Overview
Lung cancer is most treatable when found early. A suspicious nodule, mass or persistent symptom needs prompt, accurate evaluation to confirm whether cancer is present and, if so, its type and stage.
As an interventional pulmonologist, Dr. Kunal Luthra uses minimally invasive techniques such as bronchoscopy and EBUS-TBNA to obtain tissue diagnosis and stage the disease without open surgery.
Common symptoms
- Persistent cough or change in a long-standing cough
- Coughing up blood
- Unexplained weight loss and fatigue
- Breathlessness or recurrent chest infections
How I can help
Frequently asked questions
I have a lung nodule on a scan — does it mean cancer?
Most small lung nodules are not cancer. Depending on size and features, they may simply need interval scans, or a tissue sample. A pulmonologist will advise the safest, most appropriate next step for your nodule.
What is EBUS-TBNA and why might I need it?
EBUS-TBNA is an ultrasound-guided bronchoscopic technique to sample lymph nodes and masses near the airways. It allows accurate diagnosis and staging of lung cancer through the airway, avoiding more invasive surgery.
